Gianna Leo Falcon

Gianna Leo Falcon is a self taught freelance fine art photographer born and raised in NYC . Her work deals with the human condition with a focus on self reflective photo journalism. Most if not all of her subjects are personal friends lovers or her self. She prefers shooting in black and white because she feels it pulls on emotions in a deeper way.

This current exhibition, titled 'Random Articulations' is a small piece of a much larger project called visual diaries, which can be described as a fluid consciousness. More of this ongoing project can be seen on her website and Instagram.

F&S: What are you currently working on, or what are you currently obsessed with?

Gianna: Currently everything is up in the air .. Usually this happens a few times a year where I need to step back or off completely to allow the creativity its own time.

Gianna: I am obsessed with light natural light and how it create shapes and shadows how it can be used or manipulated to create a feeling or aesthetic effect. And then the concept of my work is pretty personal so it is more of a journalistic process of my life.

F&S: How do personal experiences and relationships influence your work?

Gianna: They are my work.

F&S: How do you keep your creative spark/What keeps you fascinated?

Gianna:People life .. Aesthetics ..

F&S: What advice would you give to artists who are just starting out?

Gianna: I have no idea .. I'm just starting out myself .. I'll let you know in 25 years ..

F&S: Was there an artist you admired when you were young that inspired you to be an artist yourself?

Gianna: Franchesca Woodman, Sally Mann, Egon schiele, Jorge soto
