Danish furniture designer, Hans Wegner (1914-2007) was one of the designers who spearheaded the ideal that became mid-century Danish modern furniture. For Wegner, it was all about function and his designs include chairs, sofas and tables. Hans Wegner's work contributed to the rise of mid-century Danish design in both America and around the world. His designs are known for their “organic functionality”. Hans Wegner was a big believer in wood joinery and was fond of mortise and tenon as well as the use of finger joints in his designs.
